Machinery safety
Machinery safety covers technical measures used to monitor hazardous areas, guard doors and covers, emergency-stop circuits, and to bring machinery to a safe state when a hazard is detected. A solution should be selected for the actual safety function and risk assessment, considering the complete chain of sensor, logic device and final switching element.
This category includes safety relays and configurable safety controllers, mechanical and non-contact safety switches, solenoid interlocks, safety light curtains and barriers. The range is complemented by emergency-stop and control devices, modular safety fencing, mechanical machine guards, training and functional safety assessment services.
Product selection depends on the hazardous area, access frequency, machine stopping time and whether the guard must remain locked until the dangerous movement has stopped. The required safety level, number of safe outputs, supply voltage, diagnostic capabilities, reset method and integration with the existing control system must also be considered.
